Im really into junk journals at the moment. Its not a new thing for me I will admit, but it has become the latest craze in this house
Im sure it has something to do with the freedom of not having to be so correct and neat when sticking things down… or something.
Anyway, a little while ago I was doing a google search for images of junk journal / smash book pages for some inspiration. While I was looking through the search results I came across one of my own images. I will admit to the cheap thrill of finding one of my own blog pictures
It was of the cover of my December daily 2011 journal that I took just after I put the bones of the album together.
I completed the album weeks ago and seeing this image made me realise that I never posted an update of how it all came out. There are some things that I really like and some things that I will change when I do it all again this year. I love the way it looks, its big and chunky and its got bits sticking out of it all over the place… like a proper junk journal IMO

I used the junk journal that Lauren sent me in a swap we were both in. I took out most of the larger white pages that she’d added (I was using pages that were a different size) but kept all of the smaller patterned papers. I added a heap of patterned pages of my own along with all of the larger ones.
At some point I chose to use photos that were 5x7in in size. This is probably the biggest thing that I didn’t like. That and the plain white paper that I used. There were days when I really didn’t have photos for that size of printing or that many photos per day (2 to 3). I had to find images to use. That really wasn’t “me”.

Pictures I had to go searching for. Although, having said that it was a lunar eclipse... its not like I was going to get photos of that myself!

Pictures I did have for the entry
Another thing that I had issues with was the fact that I couldn’t print these photos at home. Not in that size, so I had to wait for days when I could get to the printer to have a handful all done at once. Thats probably another reason I couldn’t keep up and do a little each day…. without the photo on the page I couldn’t get the journaling down…
Even after all of this, I do like my journal. I like the way it looks, I like the idea behind documenting a whole month a day at a time and I like the basic process. This year I’ll make adjustments to that process and hopefully the next journal will come out even better
